| Some old QBasic programsWed, 03 Dec 2008 14:45:14 -0800 by TomGrusMost of these programs were written when i was just a little kvee :), they are simple, yet they were important for me, as this is how i learned what i know today.Nowadays i don't use qbasic anymore, i do most of my work / testing in c#.But let's talk about the programs now.01: first one is some kind of screensaver-ish program, it just moves an pointer in random fashion, increasing the color value of the pixel with every cycle. Using only qbasic's functions, i didn't know there were things like direct VRAM access...02: my attempt at encryption :)), it just uses some basic logic functions, but i had no idea back then. I was even converting the number to binary by dividing, so the demonstration in the video would take about forever to encrypt. Later i realized i better leave creating those algorithms for the cryptologists and moved on :)03: a very simple, almost text-mode 2d game engine. I really liked (and still like) the playstation game series "Syphon Filter"... so i decided to make a PC version :)... What an idea... Well, it ended up like this, I could not believe I got the map editor working back then and that the whole thing actually worked :)04: another graphic program... I was at the lake and thought the sun reflecting in the water was really nice to look at... When i got back home, I wrote a quick piece of code to simulate that effect and it looked better than I expected...05: one day, I thought i'd make a fun of somebody by making him believe I am actually hacking into a nuclear power plant control system... (I knew a few people who would fall for it). So I created this controlling system simulation, even with a nice core overheating :). I stopped there because I realized what a stpid idea this all was...06: a program made recently, last year if I recall corectly. I was at the computer science lab, programming some Microchip PICs, really just load some data onto the stack, do some logic and display the result on 8 LEDs... I was bored, did not have any notebook or something and the PCs we were working on only had MS-DOS. Well, I started qbasic and in about two hours, I got a fully functional multiplayer version of snake :)07: the last program I'm going to show you was also created of boredom during the PIC programming... Well, at least the core was, I did the rest of it at home. Since I'm into music and since I primarily program music / sound software now, and my interest in this most likely started when I discovered impulse tracker, I decided to make an qbasic pc-speaker music tracker :). I succeeded in creating the very heart of the system, it knew what a tempo was, you could of course use effects like arps, slides and tempo changes, it even had a working .wav file export, but then again, I decided not to continue, because I wanted to remake the whole thing in x86 assembly so it would be small, but that would consume too much time just for the PC beeper to be able to play one channel music. oh wow.Did anyone recognize coldplay's God Put A Smile Upon Your Face in the demo? :)And to show you the pitch slides, the second song is a very short portion of nooly's withmyfinalbreath, which I used to test the effects. Nooly is a great demoscene musician, be sure to check his stuff out at http://nooly.marshal s.czAnd thats about it, :) Related: qbasic quickbasic basic microsoft graphics music snake nooly tracker programming kvee coldplay | |

| Carmageddon 2Thu, 27 Nov 2008 23:01:22 -0800 by MyiasiaThis is me demonstrating an oldie, but goodie. Carmageddon 2 has been a long-time favorite of mine, but I have had the hardest time getting it to work on anything but a Voodoo 2/3 (or anything else with 3dfx Glide support, for that matter)... until now. This is me running Carmageddon 2 in Direct3D on an older laptop of mine ( http://valid.x86-sec ret.com/show_oc.php? id=452049 ), which just happens to play the game flawlessly in Direct3D mode! :) Related: carmageddon old-school racing old games | |

The emulador I've used is called Dolphin SVN x86 Rev 992. I made this vid to show you how my comp runs SSBM. I couldn't record the music from the emulator, so I put the music myself. Yes I know, it has very poor graphics, but some nice speed.Computer specs: Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.0 GHz. 502M of RAM memory and 64M of video memory. 32-bit system.OS: Windows Vista Starter. | Intel E5200 Overclocking @ 4.0GhzTue, 25 Nov 2008 08:45:41 -0800 by overclockerfxHeres a little introduction to this video:Ok, I got tired of my P5N-E SLI's FSB holes and it wasn't allowing me to get the most out my E5200 in terms of a 24/7 Overclock. So i changed my mobo to an ASUS P5KC. Has worked real good except for a slight VDroop problem, which i fixed with a simple pencil mod. I didn't go for the P5Q Series since they have been having some problems with the 8600 Series gpu's and i really want to keep my XFX 8600 GTS.**NOTICE THIS IS A SUICIDE RUN AT 4.0GHZ I DO NOT CONSIDER IT STABLE****PLEASE DO NOT POST COMMENTS LIKE YOU SUCK I GOT MINE TO 5Ghz, BECAUSE THESE CHIPS ARE BINNED DIFFERENT AND SOME WILL CLOCK BETTER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON HOW WELL THEY WERE SLICED OF THE SILICON CHIP. THIS IS THE BEST I COULD DO WITH THIS PARTICULAR CHIP**CPU-Z Validations: 4.0Ghz - http://valid.x86-sec ret.com/show_oc.php? id=4481783.66Ghz - http://valid.x86-sec ret.com/show_oc.php? id=451299 Related: intel e5200 extreme overclocking 4.0 ghz asus p5kc antec neo he 500w xfx 8600gts super pi ocz vendetta vdroop mod 45nm penryn fsb hole high voltage overclockerfx rickarter kingston hyperx aquamark cpuz validation | |

I was wondering if one my components preventing me to OC my CPU to 3.4GHz+ I managed to OC to 3.2Ghz but with high max voltage of FSB and CPU core to be stable. They said 750i chipset are not good in OC but someone managed to OC Q6660 to 3.6Ghz and stable. I hope i can do it too. otherwise maybe i have to upgrade my PSU OR try different RAM.
