| Federer vs Nadal Rome 2006 Fifth Set HighlightsTue, 02 Dec 2008 12:55:50 -0800 by TheMasterOfTennis12006 Rome Finals: Rafael Nadal def. Roger Federer6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6This rivalry could turn out to be the best rivalry in the history of tennis, and it is likely that this match will be the best of it. The tide turned several times during this match, both players had match points. Fans thought it was over for Nadal, then for Federer, then for Nadal again, before it was really over for Federer. Roger went for winners for five-plus hours against arguably the best clay-court player of all times, and almost pulled it off! | Easy Goer -vs- Sunday Silence - 1989 Preakness StakesTue, 02 Dec 2008 06:27:40 -0800 by partymannersSunday Silence, who raised more questions than he answered when he beat Easy Goer by two and a half lengths in the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, proved himself a worthy Triple Crown contender today by winning the 114th and closest Preakness Stakes ever at Pimlico Race Course. The blackish colt from California raced head and head with Easy Goer for the length of the stretch before regaining the lead in the final yards to win by a long nose. The last time a Preakness was decided in a photo finish was when Affirmed held off Alydar by a neck in 1978. Now Sunday Silence is one victory away from becoming racing's first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed, and his rivalry with Easy Goer, a son of Alydar, is the tightest Triple Crown battle since then. The two colts will hook up again in the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on June 10, where victory would bring Sunday Silence's owners a total of $5 million in purses and bonuses for the series. A Claim of Foul The winner had to survive a claim of foul from Pat Day, Easy Goer's rider, who alleged interference by Pat Valenzuela and Sunday Silence through their stretch duel. After reviewing the films for seven minutes, the stewards let the order of finish stand. Another unrelated foul claim, by the rider of Dansil, who was fourth, against Rock Point, who was third, was also disallowed. The bettors in a record Pimlico crowd of 90,145, unconvinced by Sunday Silence's weaving Derby finish and the slow final time of that race, made Easy Goer the 3-to-5 favorite today and let Sunday Silence off as the second choice at 2 to 1. Sunday Silence paid $6.20 for $2 to win after running the mile and three-sixteenths in 1:53 4/5, the third fastest Preakness ever, behind Tank's Prospect's 1:53 2/5 in 1985 and Gate Dancer's 1:53 3/5 in 1984. Rock Point, who skipped the Derby after running second to Easy Goer in the Wood Memorial last month, was up for third, five lengths behind Easy Goer and two lengths in front of Dansil. Hawkster was fifth with Houston tiring to finish sixth, and it was 26 more lengths back to the outclassed locals, Pulverizing and Northern Wolf. Awe Inspiring, as expected, was an early scratch. Sunday Silence, a son of Halo and the Understanding mare Wishing Well, is owned by Arthur B. Hancock 3d, Ernest Gaillard and Charlie Whittingham and trained by Whittingham. The colt has won six of eight career starts and is undefeated in five races this year. Sunday Silence survived a serious illness and a vanning accident early in his career, was twice rejected by buyers at yearling sales, and came back this week from a bruised right front foot that forced him to miss two days of training. A More Genuine Race The tight finish capped a race in which the two principals both looked as if they would win easily at some point. Each appeared to fire his best shot, and while there will be plenty of interest in a rematch, and some excuses made for the loser, the race seemed more genuine than the Derby. ''I think this puts to rest the talk that Easy Goer is the better horse,'' Valenzuela said. ''I think his horse was overrated and mine was underrated. I knew Pat was going to claim foul. He was grasping at straws. He didn't want to let the public down and he didn't want to let the Eastern writers down.'' Shug McGaughey, Easy Goer's trainer, said within moments of the finish that he was eager to try Sunday Silence one more time in the Belmont. But McGaughey seemed even more dispirited today than he was after the Derby, which he had hoped was a fluke. Poor Start for Easy Goer ''We'll just try again,'' McGaughey said. ''I guess I'm going to start hearing a whole lot about Affirmed and Alydar now, but I hope we can put that to rest in the Belmont.''Race video donated by Jeff Mende.. | Vs. Spyrek1 (PBR Battle #98 part 1)Mon, 01 Dec 2008 23:15:06 -0800 by CDub7888Well, the countdown goes on. This time I face friend, rival and YT member Spyrek1.Most of you remember how Spyrek and I got started in our rivalry. It all began with a Pachirisu named Skippy and Spyrek's undying vendetta against it. I don't see why he'd be so terrified by it; he's just a cute little electric squirrel...that took down two of Spyrek's pokemon the first time he faced it. Ever since then, Spyrek and I have had a good friendship and an intense rivalry. And needless to say he's been one of my biggest supporters on here. Thank you, Spyrek, but if you get too cocky, Skippy might just have to open another case of whoopass on you.I won't say much fot this battle, but things might've been a little different if I didn't save Skippy for last. Anyway, enjoy.Do I really have to tell you that it was a 6-on-6 battle? Mommy and Daddy are tired, kids!3.)
