Then we did trotting in a rythem.. and keeping balanced, and choosing a trot that I like. Then had to do it on poles and over cavaletti and then canter between the 2 cones, and go either elft or right and go into cantering circle.I only got 2 more lesson to go!!!THE SONGS ARE NOT MINE! | Easy Goer - 1990 Suburban HandicapMon, 01 Dec 2008 16:47:17 -0800 by partymannersEasy Goer tuned up for his showdown at Arlington Park next month with a contemptuously easy 3 3/4-length victory over De Roche yesterday in the $399,000 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park. While Easy Goer probably had to fall down to lose, the style of his victory was a marked departure from his usual form and revealed a new aggressiveness, which may serve him well when he meets Sunday Silence and Criminal Type in the Arlington Challenge Cup on Aug. 4.''Bring them on,'' Pat Day, Easy Goer's jockey, said in the winner's circle.Easy Goer, a 4-year-old Alydar-Relaxing colt owned by Ogden Phipps and trained by Shug McGaughey, paid $2.40 for $2 to win yesterday and ran the mile and a quarter in an excellent 2:00.15 while carrying 126 pounds, 12 to 18 more than his opponents. The victory was his 14th and raised his earnings to $4,873,770.De Roche, beaten by only 1 1/2 lengths by Criminal Type in the Pimlico Special on May 12, was second best yesterday, 4 3/4 lengths clear of Montubio. Tricky Creek, Whiz Along, Rampart Road and Le Voyageur completed the finish in that order. This was a far different Easy Goer from the one who finished a listless third to Criminal Type and Housebuster in the Metropolitan Handicap on May 28. McGaughey said his colt was dull in the paddock before that race, and he said yesterday that he was similarly concerned.Day, though, said Easy Goer ''gave me a little hop'' in the post parade, and the change in the colt was apparent less than a furlong into the race.Easy Goer has made a career of relaxing early and then putting in a powerful stretch run, but yesterday he was closer to the early lead than ever before. He moved up after less than a quarter of a mile to duel with Le Voyageur, the pacesetter in last year's Belmont Stakes and the lone front-runner in yesterday's race. The two colts pulled nearly 10 lengths clear of the rest and went head and head while sprinting through fast fractions of 46.75 for a half-mile and 1:09.87 for six furlongs.Easy Goer edged away and rounded the far turn apparently headed for a runaway victory. But he suddenly slowed noticeably, and the rest of the field was gaining with each stride. For a moment, it looked as if the 1-5 favorite was wilting from the fast fractions, the weight and the baking heat.Day, though, was sitting absolutely still on the colt's back, giving him a breather and just toying with his rivals. Day looked back at the advancing cavalry three times, and when it got within striking distance, he began moving his hands and Easy Goer spurted away. The breather stage of the race was apparent in Easy Goer's splits. He ran his five quarter-miles in 24.20, 22.64, ''We knew we had to be aggressive today,'' McGaughey said after the race. ''I was a little bit discouraged with his attitude before the race, but none of the horses were tearing the place apart. It's hot today.''Race video donated by Jeff Mende.. | Ben and CharmThu, 27 Nov 2008 18:13:38 -0800 by TheZanniiBen's first day in his new paddock with Charm. In the paddock next to him is Stormy and Maringa Oak. No crits, my pony is very nervy and scared easily. This was the first time in about four years he was moved to a paddock without Ellie and he had no confidence. Now he is as happy as ever with Charm and new friend Duke, and doesn't miss Ellie anymore. Related: ben charm new paddock spook trot canter |
