You start off in Space Invaders as a small ship only able to move left and right, and end up in bullet-hell with a full-featured ship.Each enemy you destroy drops Item. Once you collect 800 Item, the boss of the generation appears, called The Mutant. To defeat these mutants, you need to collect 200 more Item to push your ship into the next generation. I adore this title and recommend it to any veteran shooter fans out there. If you can remember pushing coins into an arcade machine for just-one-more-go you'll likely appreciate Genetos. It's solidly made, though sadly unfinished- Level 5 is missing. You start off as a Space Invaders ship, with Space Invaders gameplay, which then slowly progresses to Touhou gameplay, level by level. In this recent version, there are a total of 4 levels, with 5 generations of ships:1st Generation:- 2 shots maximum on-screen- horizontal movement2nd Generation:- 10 bullets maximum on-screen (5 shots max)- semi-free 2D movement3rd Generation:- unlimited firing (no bullet limit)- hit area reduced- bomb enabled (press x)- free 2D movement- able to attract orbs when not firing4th Generation:- alternative fire enabled (hold ctrl/shift)- laser sub-weapon enabled (hold shift)- slow movement enabled (hold shift/ctrl)- speed of attracting orbs increased5th Generation:- options enabled (ie. | Genetos: Stage 1-3 (Trial Version)Tue, 08 Jan 2008 17:27:48 -0800 by impactBREAKEROKAY, I'M FINALLY BACK GUYS.i don't know why it's taken me so long to record and post something (almost four months) but hopefully i will be able to get some sort of run going, like i had just before i stopped posting. i have to admit, i feel quite surprised to see that my account broke 50 subscribers while i was away, but it's awesome all the same.anyway, this is a game i've wanted to record for a little while now, even though it's just a demo. i also needed something to test out fraps (which i have decided not to switch over to, just because of the amount of hassle it takes to get a video ready for upload compared to growler guncam, despite the pleasing results) so it seemed like a brilliant game to test.genetos is a 2d shooter where you level up and evolve your ship and the world around you by killing enemies and collecting the blue and green circles they drop to fill up an "experience guage" of sorts, which upgrades your ship to something a little stronger and makes the world around you become a little more difficult as well. i think it's a very interesting concept for a shooter and hope the full version of the game is just as impressive.i feel like posting more of this kind of stuff, but i really don't know -- i love this style of game, but i don't think i'm much good at them, so i feel kind of torn. let me know if you'd like to see more of this thing! It starts with our little well known game Space Invaders, slowly modernizes to become a bullet hell shmup. Well.. I died twice on the same thing, and got myself stuck and had to use up my bombs, but I didn't do that bad, considering this is actually my first go at the game. | Genetos - Play through the history of shmups!Wed, 26 Dec 2007 10:28:35 -0800 by shmupnutThis game is really amazing and original. In Genetos, the levels are the different generations in the evolution of shmups. You start out with a Space Invaders type level, then move on to Galaga, and finish up in a standard, current-gen bullet hell type level. Enemies drop green powerups, which fill up a bar at the bottom of the screen. Getting enough will first trigger a boss fight, who also drops more powerups. Filling the bar will then trigger a "Generation shift" for your craft, which also evolves like the levels. You start out with a pea shooter and lack the ability to move vertical. 2nd generation ships can now move up and down, also also have a twin laser. Later generations get bombs!Genetos is a brilliant idea, and if you can't tell already I am really impressed with it.
