Capobanda sarebbe proprio la mamma, Concetta Lucchese,di 49 anni,commerciante di abbigliamento,che gli inquirenti descrivono come manager del crimine a capo di unazienda a conduzione familiare nella quale curava entrate e uscite e stabiliva i criteri per la distribuzione dei dividendi. Gli altri arrestati sono i figli Benito e Giacomo Peritore, rispettivamente di 33 e 30 anni, le nuore Concetta Liardo, di 36 anni, e Cinzia Giaquinta, di 28 anni, nonchè il nipote Benito Peritore, di 29 anni, tutti di Gela. Il narcotraffico in cui risulterebbero specializzati riguardava la cocaina, di cui si rifornivano presso i grossisti di Catania. Allatto dellarresto della Lucchese e del figlio, Benito, avvenuto durante la notte in contrada Ponte Olivo, a 10 km da Gela, la donna aveva con se 20 grammi di questo stupefacente. Nello scorso novembre, anche il nipote fu fermato con 15 grammi di cocaina.Nei confronti dei sei imputati il sostituto procuratore della Repubblica di Gela, Filippo Guerra, ha chiesto e ottenuto dal gip, Veronica Vaccaro, ordinanze di custodia cautelare in carcere, eseguite durante la notte dalla locale compagnia dei Carabinieri, che nell'operazione ha impegnato 30 uomini, al comando del capitano, Pasquale Saccone.
