| DANIEL KOVACH - Minuet BWV 990, A132 (Johann Sebastian Bach)Fri, 09 Jan 2009 15:57:56 -0800 by DanielKovachThis Minuet from the second book of pieces given as a gift to Anna Magdalena Bach from Johann Sebastian is attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach but it is also thought to be anonymously composed. A rythmic feature of the Minute is that the third beat of each measure serves as a pick up into the next. If you have a working familiarity with much of the left and right changes found in the previous peices of the collection, you would not find this Minut too difficult to play. There are a few places that you should be careful about. To get up to the high B in measure 9, stagger or slightly break the interval of a major 9th, playing the G slightly before the beat making the melody note B come out on the beat. This will add expression in addition to making the shift easier and more connected. The open string accompaniment will help make this passage smooth as well. Related: minuet | |
