| Hounds Of Hell: Part 2Wed, 07 Jan 2009 22:08:33 -0800 by SafeCommunityNowJan 7, 2009; 10:45PM -- The soothing ambient sound in what would otherwise be an idyllic rural setting is shredded by the unrelenting barking of packs of dogs. Left outside at all hours of the day and night, in all weather, untrained and unattended by their owners, they bark and howl miserably. This clip was shot at 10:45PM -- long past what is considered a respectful "quiet hour" and long past what would be a reasonable bed time for small children. But sleep itself is a dream when the "dog chorus" is a constant din. And in the summer when windows are open, it is even worse. In this clip, again captured using low end consumer-grade equipment, one can hear mainly the sound of rainwater dripping from the roofline until about the 3 minute mark, when the camera was moved to a different spot. At that point, one can begin to more clearly pick up two of the neighborhood's "dog chorus" regular members. This barking goes on and on and on. And it has for years. The owners of one of the dogs "featured" in this clip owned 3 other dogs as well, along with numerous other animals; when they were asked to please do something about the barking, their response was that as long as there are other dogs in the neighborhood who are barking, there is no reason for them to quiet theirs. Their "advice" was to do what they do -- crank up the volume on the television set.Over the years, town officials have been asked, and then begged, and then pleaded with to act, but none of our leadership has moved to take any positive action to improve the situation for everyone affected -- including the animals that are being neglected. And this is so, even though the community has for years provided -- at taxpayer expense -- a PAID Animal Control Officer who has for years been given compensation as well as an official town vehicle and other resources in order to do this job that he has outright refused for years to do. Dogs perceive sound differently than humans -- in particular the sound of other dogs barking. Because of this constant ambient torrent of barking, our own dog when outside will begin to "go about his business" but then freeze in place and begin to shake and whine. And our dog's fear of attack is a reasonable one based on experience. We ourselves have been attacked and threatened numerous times by pitbulls charging onto our property -- in October 2008, one of the neighborhood pitbulls got loose FOUR TIMES over just a 10 day period, repeatedly charging us on our own property, the fourth time chasing us and on our heels. Just the memory of that adrenaline rush still causes nausea and leaves us now feeling like prisoners in our own home. And that was just what happened in October. Then there was November. And December. And there is much more to tell. But these are NOT the only stories. There are many others -- including the neighbor, a senior citizen, a lovely, gracious woman who watched while another pitbull slaughtered the pet cat of a third neighbor. The woman's husband as a tremendous kindness bagged the slaughtered cat's remains so that the cat's owners would be spared having to live through that experience. This incident took place more than 2 years ago; however, in spite of repeated requests by members of the community, the town and the Animal Control Officer have yet to take action to address this problem. And all the while, these roaming, vicious pitbulls and their vicious pack mates are allowed to remain in the "care" of their owners.Other neighbors have suffered similar losses of their pets as well -- but even worse (if "worse" can even be imagined) is just one example of the repeated threatening of another neighbor's grandchild by one of the vicious pitbulls and its pack of aggressive pinschers. All of these dogs, kept by their irresponsible owners in far-too-cramped quarters, untrained, unexercised, with apparently no appropriate care or leadership live a stressful, unhappy life themselves and represent a tremendous risk to the health and safety of anyone who gets close enough to be harmed by them.***In spite of our owning nearly 2 acres of woods -- a perfect home for a dog like ours who loved to hike ["idyllic" -- or so we thought when we bought the property originally] -- we limit his "outside" area to the small patch of ground at the back of the house that is shown in this video clip. When he needs to relieve himself, we go right out the back door, keep him on a short leash, and when he finishes his business, we head right back into the house again. He cannot play in his own yard for fear of being attacked again. We cannot walk in our own woods. The Quality of Life is miserable. And yet in spite of our pleas for help -- aside from their sending us the annual property tax bill -- we hear NOTHING from our town leadership about what they are going to do to make this community safe and livable. | Sonic Unleashed: Shamar Day - Arid Sands Act 1Wed, 07 Jan 2009 17:38:37 -0800 by IcyHedgehog333Shamar Day...a really enigmatic and problematic stage. There's a bunch of stuff that aim to slow you down and stuff that can mess you over. What probably saved Shamar from overtaking Holoska as the least favorite would be the fact that it is adrenaline-pumping. Your reaction times has to be perfect in order to master it (which is gonna take some doin' on my part).I really think I could've done better, but what can I say? This stage is difficult!Again, I recorded this in my living room of better quality than the one in my room. Ignore all background noises.Rank: BTime: 3:23:??
