Cuando un deslice de tierra tira abajo su tienda, Yuki y su primo, Shigure Sohma, le ofrecen quedarse a cambio de que ella cocine y limpie la casa.Apenas Tohru se instala en su habitación, entra Kyo Sohma, quien quiere enfrentarse a Yuki. En medio de la confusión Tohru se tropieza con Kyo y este, Yuki y Shigure se transforman en un gato, ratón y perro respectivamente. Ambos le explican a Tohru sobre su maldición del Zodiaco Chino y le ruegan que no diga nada o tendrá que vérselas con Akito Sohma, el cabeza de familia. Kyo se transfiere al salón de Yuki y Tohru. Kagura Sohma se entera donde está viviendo Kyo y va a verlo, en un gracioso encuentro.El abuelo de Tohru aparece para decirle que la casa está lista y que puede irse a vivir con el. Pero Tohru extraña a los Sohmas y además le incomodan las actitudes de sus primos y tíos, quienes también viven con su abuelo.
