Brave Belt (Another Way Out)
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 14:30:05 -0800 by Termite58

Brave Belt was a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba originally consisting of Randy Bachman (guitar/vocals), his former Guess Who bandmate, Chad Allan (lead vocals/keyboards), and Randy's brother Robbie (drums). Randy also provided bass tracks for the recording of the band's first album, Brave Belt I (Reprise Records, 1971). But C.F. "Fred" Turner was added shortly after as bassist for the supporting concerts.[1]The band made the Canadian Top 40 with the minor hit "Crazy Arms, Crazy Eyes", which peaked at #35 in November of 1971. However, they missed the US charts completely. When Allan left the band in 1971, Turner became the lead vocalist for the Brave Belt II album (1972). During the supporting tours for Brave Belt II, Tim Bachman was added as a second guitarist.[1] After this lineup (C.F. Turner with Randy, Tim and Robbie Bachman) had shopped around the demo that was supposed to be a Brave Belt III album, new management convinced them to change their name. They eventually settled on Bachman-Turner Overdrive.Though Brave Belt is relatively unknown some 35+ years later, the importance of the band was summed up by Randy Bachman in a 2001 interview: "It was an innocent time of soul-searching. Nobody would play with me when I left The Guess Who. I was completely black-listed. I couldn't get a decent musician to play with me, except Chad Allan, who had also been in The Guess Who and left. He and I bonded together, and I might not have gotten started without him, even though he left sometime after that first album. Those [Brave Belt] albums are so important to me because, for the first time, I was making my own music, paying for it, finding strengths in it, and going through the process of finding the right music for the record. It led to me becoming a stronger producer for BTO."[2]

Cardinal Rex Lawson ~ "So Ala Temen - Yellow Sisi - Love Mu Adure"
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 14:07:19 -0800 by groovemonzter

songs: So Ala Temen - Yellow Sisi - Love Mu Adureartist: Cardinal Rex Lawson & His Mayor's Band of NigeriaFrom the Wikipedia:Rex Jim Lawson (c.1930 - 1969), known as Cardinal Rex, was a singer, trumpeter and bandleader from Kalabari (Ijaw), Nigeria. One of the best-known highlife musicians of the 1960s, Lawson played with Sammy Obot, Bobby Benson, Victor Olaiya, Chris Ajiko, and other Ghanaian and Nigerian musicians and bands. His greatest success came as the leader of the Mayors Dance Band; their recorded hits include So ala teme, Yellow Sisi, Gowon Special, and Jolly Papa. His most popular hit is probably Love Adure, which is still a sure floor-filler in Nigeria to this day.A highly emotional and deep musician, Lawson was known to weep and shed tears while singing his own songs, notably the haunting So ala teme. Sir Maliki Showman, the famous Nigerian tenor saxophonist who played with Bobby Benson, Victor Uwaifo and Rex Lawson, remembers Lawson as always placing music over money. Lawson is famed for his infectious gregariousness, his musical vision, talent, perseverance and individuality.Lawson died tragically in 1971 in a car accident on his way to play a show in Warri, Nigeria.

CHRISTIAN ANDERS - Der Brief
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 13:16:03 -0800 by MusicMeanMachine

"DER BRIEF" - 1976 Freigegeben. CHRISTIAN ANDERS, (* 15. Christian Anders schrieb das Buch The Man W.H.O.

Cover of Rolling Stones' "Brown Sugar", from the 1971 "Sticky Fingers" album . I already uploaded two covers of this song. In the first one I play and sing it alone, in the second one I play it with my 2-men-band but I didn't use ani microphone, so my voice was very low. Here I have a microphone and my voice is ok (or even too loud).I had to upload this video to complete my Brown Sugar covers!

Who - Wont get fooled again
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 13:01:14 -0800 by bluephenix13

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is a rock song by the British rock band The Who, composed by band member Pete Townshend. The song originally appeared on the 1971 album Who's Next and has since appeared on various other recordings, including the live compilation soundtrack for The Kids Are Alright, the 1979 documentary film about the band, which in the 1978 Shepperton film studios shoot, was the last song the original lineup ever performed together. It is famous for its angular organ part set against guitar power chords, leading up to an extended synthesizer break into a drum entrance followed by a long scream by Daltrey. Townshend is playing block chords spread between the two keyboards of the 1968 Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ. Pete Townshend wrote this song as part of his Lifehouse Project. He wanted to release a double-album and film about a world where the people are oppressed, but saved by a rock concert. Part of Townshend's wish was to show the power of music and how it reflects the people. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is about a revolution. In the first verse, there is an uprising. In the middle, the rebels overthrow those in power, but in the end, the new regime becomes just like the old one ("Meet the new boss, same as the old boss").

John Miles (Do It All Again)
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:49:32 -0800 by Termite58

Originally a pupil at the Jarrow School, Miles was a member of the bands Influence (which also included Paul Thompson, later drummer with Roxy Music; and Vic Malcolm, later lead guitarist with Geordie) and The John Miles Set, before starting his solo career in 1971.During the 1970s he issued eighteen singles and four albums, including Rebel (1976), Stranger In The City (1977), and Zaragon (1978). However, Miles had most success with singles; in addition to "Music", he also charted with "Highfly" (1975), "Remember Yesterday" (1976), and "Slow Down" (1977). Most of his songs were co-written with his bassist, Bob Marshall. "Slow Down" was also featured in the 1979 movie Players starring Ali McGraw and Dean Paul Martin. In the 1980s, he continued to record and tour. In 1983, a new radio station in the South of England, Radio Mercury, used parts from the song "Music" for their link jingles. The song itself also received extensive airplay on the station.Miles has toured with Tina Turner, often filling in for Bryan Adams when the latter was unavailable to join her on tour for their duet. Miles is also a frequent guest vocalist on albums by The Alan Parsons Project.Throughout the late 1980s and into the 1990s, Miles was the music director to Tina Turner on her various tours, and played on several of her albums. He also played Hammond organ on Joe Cocker's album Night Calls (1992). Today he is still making music, which he famously refers to as his "first love".In 1990, Miles participated in the UK heat of A Song for Europe with the song "Where I Belong", which came second. In 2002 he issued the DVD John Miles - Live In Concert. In 2007 Miles performed in Gelsenkirchen, Germany with the German band Pur and sang two songs. One of those songs, "Abenteuerland", Miles sang with Pur in German. The concert is available on the DVD, Pur-Friends-Live-Sch alke-2007.In October 2008, Miles began touring once again with Rock Legend, Tina Turner. Turner had an extensive American-European Tour, stretching from October 2008 to late April 2009.

Bulldog (No)
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:22:14 -0800 by Termite58

Produced and played by drummer Dino Danelli and guitarist Gene Cornish of the Young Rascals, Bulldog's debut in 1972 opens with a heavy version of the Bobby Day number two hit from 1958, "Rockin' Robin," a performance which displays the strength and weakness of this ensemble. Bassist/lead vocalist Billy Hocher is a cross between Bob Tench of the Jeff Beck Group, Ian Lloyd of Stories, and Ralph Mormon of Savoy Brown. On tunes like "Juicin' With Lucy" and "Don't Blame It on Me," the singing becomes overbearing and a bit tedious, despite the journeyman abilities of the ex-Rascals producing this. Interesting that a band called Sweathog in 1971 had a hit with "Hallelujah" and a sound similar to Bulldog. Also worthy of note is that little Michael Jackson took "Rockin' Robin" back to number two nationally the same year this album was released, 1972. There is a real gem here in the song "No," a minor hit in some regions of the country that was written by Hocher and keyboardist John Turi. It suffered the same fate as Stories' excellent "I'm Coming Home," their 1972 almost-hit which is quite similar in sound and performance to Bulldog's "No." The Hocher/Turi songwriting team had some merit, with Billy Hocher's voice a bit more accessible on "You Underlined My Life" and "Have a Nice Day," both songs being somewhat pleasant and more refined than some of the other material here. John Turi gets to sing lead on the almost-funky version of Chuck Berry's "Too Much Monkey Business," featuring guitarists Eric Thorngren and Gene Cornish, who deliver a nice riff-rock sludge to augment Turi's boogie-woogie piano. Inevitable comparisons to the Rascals have the band falling short of what was accomplished when Cornish and Danelli performed with Eddie Brigati and Felix Cavaliere. "Parting People Should Be Good Friends" is nice British pop, and that style of radio-friendly songwriting and structure is where this band shines. It's just that the pop sensibilities are offset by the attempted blues of a song like "Good Times Are Comin'," which, unfortunately, holds this album back. Six years later, Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli would form Fotomaker with Wally Bryson of the Raspberries and a lineup similar to the Rascals. Though superior to Bulldog, the problem there as well was that a creative force like Eric Carmen or Felix Cavaliere was missing. The verdict is quite simple -- these energies put into more albums by the Rascals over these lost years is what the fans would have appreciated. Were that the case, "No" might have gotten a huge yes on the charts

Marie - Bulles De Chagrin..
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 10:47:54 -0800 by Lakis2
