| BMW 730d F01 Interior OperationSat, 05 Jul 2008 07:20:03 -0700 by BVP1982The BMW F01 is an automobile platform expected to go into production in late 2008 as a replacement for the current 7 Series (BMW E65/E66) platform. The long wheelbase, codenamed BMW F02, will be longer by 14 cm (5.5 in) than BMW F01. It will be also equipped with a more intuitive iDrive system. The current debate about this car revolves around what styling the car will appear with. This has become a very controversal topic ever since the (BMW E65/E66) platform was released to severe public scrunity for its dramatic departure from traditional BMW styling cues. BMW is expected to release a conservative design and has been showing concept cars that follow in a similar styling trend at autoshows for over a year in an attempt to acclimate the public to the new design cues ahead of the new car's release. The most recent photos of the car reveal a large sedan that maintains the BMW E65/E66 roofline and general cabin size, but returns to the 7-series' roots with shorter front and rear overhangs. Most interesting is that BMW has decided to remove the large trunklid that was the most controversal of the BMW E65/E66's styling and interestingly enough has been one of the most mimicked styling trends in modern car design.Fully undisguised product photos of the new 7 Series appeared on the net on the July 3, 2008. The new 7-Series loses much of its Bangle inspired design and looks more like a larger E60 5-Series, with a front end that takes from the BMW CS Concept.Overall, BMW looks to release a conservative car with modest sporting cues that will be visually pleasingDetails are yet to emerge, however as reported BMW plans to use the F01 7-series to spearhead its move into hybrid engine technology. The F01 platform is expected to underpin a smaller Rolls-Royce slotting in below the ultra-luxury Phantom, internally known as the Rolls-Royce "RR4". This $250,000 car would be assembled in Germany alongside the 7 Series and would share that car's future V12 engine. Related: bmw 750i 760i 745d 730d e65 e66 f01 f02 promo video | |

| 2010 Porsche Panamera Goes for a Ride in the Arctic CircleWed, 02 Jul 2008 16:16:27 -0700 by InsideLineVideohttp://www.edmunds.c om/insideline/do/Gen eralFuture/articleId =124756As it edges closer to production next year, the 2010 Porsche Panamera is starting to stray farther from home. This time our spy photographers caught up with the Panamera while it was undergoing cold-weather testing in the Arctic Circle.Like most of the prototypes we've seen before, this Panamera had camouflage over the front and rear ends to conceal the final design details. In this case, however, the huge ducktail spoiler was absent, a change that gives a much better look at the unique rear window. It appears as though the Panamera sedan will actually look something like a four-door hatchback. Cut lines clearly show a rear window that starts at the top of the C-pillar and extends all the way down to just above the license plate. It's an odd design cue to say the least, but it should keep the Panamera from getting lumped in with the rest of Germany's luxury sedans.Other notable design elements include a side window that extends rearward all the way to the middle of the rear wheel and taillights that wrap around to the side of the rear quarter panel. Up front, it appears as though there might be a set of quarter-panel vents just after the front wheels along with the usual air intakes in the airdam to feed the V8 engine under the hood.We still expect the Panamera will use the 4.8-liter V8 variants found in the current Cayenne SUV. With roughly 400 horsepower for the base model and 500 hp for the Turbo, the Panamera should have little trouble keeping up with its German competition. And like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Porsche has also announced its intention to add a hybrid sedan to its lineup. The Porsche Panamera Hybrid will use the same system slated for the Cayenne Hybrid and is expected to arrive in late 2010.Production of the standard Panamera is slated to begin next year, so expect to see the official introduction either late this year or in early 2009. | Toyota vs...Toyota? Camry Hybrid takes on the PriusWed, 02 Jul 2008 12:04:48 -0700 by InsideLineVideoLEARN MORE ABOUT TOYOTA HYBRIDS:http://www.e dmunds.com/insidelin e/do/Drives/Comparos /articleId=127826Guy walks into a Toyota dealer ? sounds like a joke so far, right? Not quite.Guy walks into a Toyota dealer looking for a 2008 Toyota Prius. He's heard about hybrids for awhile now, and the Prius is one he knows by name. He vaguely recalls some celebrity bragging about taking one to the Academy Awards instead of a limo, and then there was that South Park episode, "Smug Alert" a couple of years back. And didn't Al Gore's own son make headlines for getting busted doing 100 mph in his Prius?Something like that. Beyond the hype, Guy's never really given hybrid cars much thought, much less gone looking for one. And even though he can afford a decent-size car or SUV, the price of gasoline has him looking for fuel economy in a serious way.And there on the showroom floor, Guy sees a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid for almost the same amount of money as a Prius. Now what? Related: 2008 toyota prius vs. camry hybrid edmunds inside line car auto hybrid fuel efficiency | |

MANY BIG NAMES HAVE DIED... or more well put, MURDERED!For all of the people saying that this isn't possible, I ask you get off your lazy, sheepish ass, and do some research!
